If you want to burn belly fat, you’re probably going to have to work up a sweat.

While many say that abs are made in the kitchen, exercising is also necessary if you’re looking to tone your tum.

So which exercises should you be doing to shape up?

Here’s how high intensity interval training could accelerate your weight loss journey.





Personal trainer Joey Thurman recently revealed why HIIT can be so beneficial.

The moves are designed to raise your heart rate, helping to torch calories and blast fat.

Unlike other workouts, you can do them from the comfort of your own home.

Doing just 15 minutes of the exercise two times a week can spark huge changes to your body.

Here are three simple moves you should try:

1. Leg raises

This exercise is good for building your upper body strength and core muscles.

Follow these simple steps to carry it out:

1. Lie down flat on your back

2. Stretch your legs straight out, before squeezing your toes, knees and heels together

3. Lift your legs up straight to a 90 degree angle over your hips and lower back down, without touching the floor

4. After carrying out this motion slowly, repeat

2. Side plank

This killer core move also helps to tone your shoulders, obliques and legs.

Follow these steps to carry it out:

1. Lie on your side with your legs on top of one another

2. Leaning on one arm or hand, raise your body into the air

3. Pull in your tummy and hold for 30 seconds

4. Repeat after half a minute of rest

Most gym-goers are familiar with crunches.

Once your body is used to the tummy-toning exercise, modify the basic move to push yourself harder.

Follow these steps to carry out a twist crunch:

1. Lie down on your back with your hands behind your head

2. Like a normal crunch, ben your knees and keep your feet on the floor

3. Engage your abs, before lifting your upper torso and twisting your right shoulder towards your left leg

4. Repeat on the other side and continue for as many reps as you see fit.
